I never watch TV news without thinking of this scene from Broadcast News. Holly Hunter plays a hard-charging, intense news producer who lives for a good story. She falls in love with Tom, a handsome but ultimately empty anchorman who favors lighter spots and non-news. Albert Brooks’ character is trying to stop it from happening. But his “what do you think the devil is going to look like?” speech to her is a great comment on those stories that are beneath our intelligence, and the people who peddle them.
